Edith Wilhoit, Johnson City

Edith Miller Wilhoit, 98, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Wilhoit was a Greene County native and had been a resident of Johnson City for most of her life.
She was a daughter of the late Arthur F. and Mellie Gray Miller.
Mrs. Wilhoit was a former secretary and bookkeeper with Freeman Motors and a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
She was an active member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilhoit was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Jack Wilhoit; and a sister, Naomi Shepherd.
She is survived by three sisters, Reba Martin, Greeneville, Inez Moncier and Wanda Roberts, both of Afton; several nieces and nephews, including Eugene Shepherd, Michael Moncier, Keith Roberts, Archie Moncier, Sandra Smith and Nancy Daniels, all of Greene County; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Bobby and Sue Bennett.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 10, 2011, at 2:30 P.M. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Reverend Lon Tobin officiating.
Interment will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday in Union Chapel Cemetery, Horse Creek Community, Greene County. Active pallbearers will be Eugene Shepherd, Michael Moncier, Keith Roberts, Archie Moncier and Ray Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Bennett.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
