The Rev. Robert Hudson, Johnson City

Reverend Robert Byars Hudson, 81, Johnson City, TN entered into rest, Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Reverend Hudson was a native of Sheridan, Arkansas and had lived in Johnson City for the past several years.
He was a son of the late William D. Hudson and Ivy Ruth Byars Hudson and was also preceded in death by one son, Mike Hudson in 1994 and one daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Dickson.
Reverend Hudson was a retired Methodist minister having served as pastor in several churches in the Holston Conference including, First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton, First United Methodist Church, Galax, VA, First United Methodist Church, Chattanooga, TN, First United Methodist Church Cleveland, TN, Mountain View United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN, First United Methodist Church, Lafollette, TN, Trinity United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN, Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN and First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA. He had also served as Conference Administrator and Treasurer of Holston Conference.
He was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church and the Philosopher’s Sunday School Class.
Reverend Hudson leaves his wife, Carolyn Rogers Hudson; two sons, Stephen Craig Hudson, Covington, GA and Robert Darryl Hudson, Bluefield, VA; six grandchildren, Alison, Robert, Andrew, Megan, Lauren and Thomas and three great grandchildren, Colin, Cynthia and Eli.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City, TN. Bishop Kenneth Carder, Reverend Brian Taylor, Reverend Michael Lester and Reverend Jerry Everley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until service time. Committal services will be held at 3:30 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Holston Conference Cemetery, Emory, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from Reverend Hudson’s minister colleagues and friends. Members of the Philosopher’s Sunday School Class and Holston Conference ministers are honorary pallbearers. Friends and friends will assemble at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Robert Hudson Scholarship Fund, Holston Conference Foundation, P.O. Box 900 Alcoa, TN 37701.
