Brenda Griffin, Johnson City

Brenda Elliott Handley Griffin, age 69, of the Milligan Community, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Elizabethton on July 23, 1941 and was a daughter of E.S. Elliott of Johnson City and the late Ina Ritchie Elliott. Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of ETSU and was an avid VOLS fan. She was of the Baptist faith and had most recently attended Borderview Christian Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Handley, and her grandparents, Andrew and Cordie Ritchie and Worley and Ruth Elliot of the Stoney Creek community.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Ron Griffin, of the home; a daughter, Connie Handley Allen and husband, Don, and two grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Allen, all of Harvest, Alabama; a step-daughter, Terrie Kirk and husband, Paul, and two step-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Conner Kirk, all of South Carolina; one sister, Janice Elliott Hight and husband, Bill, Johnson City; one brother, Sid Elliott and wife, Pansy, Enterprise, Alabama; two nephews, Andy Hight and wife, Parisa, and their daughter, Addison, Johnson City, and Mark Elliott and wife, Michelle, and their son, Peyton, Austin, TX; two aunts, Anna Ruth Cole, Elizabethton, and Georgia Mae Hyder, Columbia, SC; and two uncles, Lawrence Ritchie and wife, Letha, Elizabethton, and Hugh Elliott and wife, Leigh, Myrtley Beach, SC. Many cousins also survive.
A graveside service for Brenda Elliott Handley Griffin will be conducted at 9:30 AM Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens with Mr. Kirk Langston, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside at the home of her sister, Janice Hight.
