Clinton Lovelace, age 86, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
A native of Elizabethton, TN, he was a son of the late Thomas and Carrie Russell Lovelace. He was a member of Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Lovelace retired from the Mountain Home Veterans Administration as a cook in the dietary department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lovelace; three sisters; and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma B. Lovelace, of the home; two sons, Jim Lovelace, and special friend, Linda Tvenstrup, Jonesborough, Benny Lovelace, and wife Shirley, Jonesborough; one daughter, Paula Buchanan, Johnson City; two brothers Glen Lovelace, Detroit, MI, and Tom Lovelace, Hampton, TN. Ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Lovelace will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Story and Mr. Shelton Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. from the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6 from Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday.
