Sue Hammett, Jonesborough

Sue Deakins Hammett, 84, Jonesborough – October 5, 1926 to July 2, 2011, passed away at her home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hammett was a daughter of the late James Sr. and Dora Phillips Deakins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hammett was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, J.R. Hammett in 2001, a sister, Effie Deakins Cloyd, three brothers, Bruce, Conley, and the Reverend James Deakins, Jr., an infant brother and sister, paternal grandparents, James and Sue Yoder Deakins and maternal grandparents, Jake and Jane Phillips.
She was a lifelong resident of Jonesborough.
Mrs. Hammett was a member of the Jonesborough United Methodist Church and a special friend to many.
Survivors include a son, Bob Hammett and wife, Janice of Jonesborough; granddaughter, Shay Hammett, of Johnson City; several special nieces and nephews, and a special lifelong friend, Mildred Hodge.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Tammy Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Wednesday prior to the service and other times at the home of Bob & Janice, 180 J.A. Ramsey Lane Jonesborough.
Interment services will be conducted 10:30 am Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Hobart Jones, Mike Woods, Charlie Covino, Rick Deakins, Steve Deakins and Paul Masters.
