A brief police chase led to the arrests Friday of two people found hiding in the woods in Johnson City.

In a news release, Johnson City police said they tried to stop a vehicle they suspected was involved in a Greene County residential burglary. The driver, Kevin Mitchell, sped away on Browns Mill Road.

Police soon found the vehicle abandoned, and both Mitchell and his passenger, Erica Chance, were found hiding in nearby woods.

Searching Chance’s purse, police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Chance, 23, 124 Dove Drive, Jonesborough, was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell, 40, no address available, was charged with driving on a revoked license and evading arrest. They were held in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond each awaiting Sessions Court appearances that were set for Monday.
