ELIZABETHTON — A 1987 Ford Ranger pickup truck was knocked on its side in a Thursday afternoon traffic accident at the intersection of North East Street.

Corporal Doug Combs of the Elizabethton Police Department said the accident happened when a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Max Wilburn White, 76, 128 Scafford Branch Drive, was attempting to turn west from North East Street onto Broad Street.

Combs said White's view was obstructed by an eastbound dump truck. Apparently thinking the lane was clear, White pulled into the path of the westbound pickup truck driven by Dylan Alexander Crowe, 19, 103 Culbert Private Drive.

White was charged with failure to exercise due caution. Combs said a wooden box containing marijuana and a pipe were found in the truck. Crowe was cited for simple possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
