A shot fired in downtown Johnson City led police early Wednesday morning to arrest a convicted felon from Georgia on numerous charges.

Dylan Coty Torrance, 22, Gainesville, Ga., was arrested after the incident at the Downtown Square parking lot on West State of Franklin Road near South Roan Street.

About 1:30 a.m., police were sent to the downtown area after a 911 caller reported seeing two men checking door handles for unlocked vehicles in the area around Numan's Bar on East Main Street. The caller also reported that the men left the Downtown Square parking lot in a red SUV and a gunshot was fired from the vehicle as they left.

Police found the vehicle as it exited the parking lot onto State of Franklin and stopped it. Police found a gun in the SUV and a fired shell casing at the scene. Police said the casing matched the caliber of the gun in the SUV.

Torrance was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless endangerment and public intoxication. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,500 bond with an appearance set for Thursday in Sessions Court.
