Staff Report • May 16, 2014 at 3:31 PM

For the second time in the past three months, a city man was arrested shortly after his release from another penal institution.

On Friday, Johnson City police arrested William Largent, 56, 361 Rockhouse Road, on a 2006 warrant charging him with stealing an all-terrain vehicle.

According to a JCPD press release, in 2006, the Tennessee Department of Transportation reported that the ATV was stolen from its Johnson City facility. In the release, police said the ATV was found in Largent’s possession in Washington County, North Carolina. By the time the arrest warrant was issued, however, Largent was incarcerated in the Carter County Jail on charges of promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The incident wasn't the first time Largent had been released from one jail and taken to another. On Feb. 25, the Carter County Sheriff's Department picked Largent up on the methamphetamine-related charges after he had served time at Mountain View Corrections in Spruce Pine, North Carolina

Upon Largent’s release from Carter County, he was arrested on the 2006 warrant on a charge of theft over $1,000. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on a $11,000 bond. He was arraigned in Sessions Court on Friday, and his next appearance was scheduled for the afternoon of May 21.
