A Mountain City man was arrested this week on charges that stem from what officers believe was a drunken wreck in May 2013 that injured a female passenger, a warrant filed in Washington County Sessions Court said.

Larry K. Hyatt, 32, 1157 Stout Branch Road, faces charges of reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, failure to report an accident and improper display of registration plates.

The crash happened May 28, 2013, around 6:15 p.m., although the crash location was not revealed in the court documents. Witnesses to the crash told officers they heard the wreck and then saw a man and woman leaving the scene.

Officers later made contact with the female victim, not identified in court records, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

The woman told officers Hyatt had been driving the vehicle and speeding when he lost control and wrecked. The two ran after the crash, the woman told officers.

At the scene inside the vehicle, officers found an empty 12-pack of beer and several open beer cans.

Hyatt was arrested and held on $11,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing Monday.
