Staff Report • Apr 14, 2014 at 11:01 AM

A Lamont Street resident reported to police early Monday morning that after she refused to open her door to a man trying to sell her a box of hot rollers, she found that her car had been burglarized.

Police tracked down the man with the hot rollers and arrested him. Karl Dixon, 40, was charged with auto burglary.

About 1:10 a.m., police were called to the 800 block of Lamont Street, where the resident reported that the man had knocked on her door offering to sell her some items, including the hot rollers. She refused to open the door. A few minutes later, she heard her car door slam and looked out her window to see the man walking away from her car. She checked her car and found that two rolls of quarters had been stolen.

Police found Dixon in the area. He had the hot rollers, as well as an empty purse and a pair of women's shoes, police said.

Dixon was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance later Monday.
