Staff Reports • Feb 27, 2014 at 5:27 PM

Johnson City police say a man accosted a clerk and made off with an undetermined amount of cash after robbing a convenience store.

On Wednesday morning at around 1:50, police responded to the Sunoco convenience store at 1001 S. Roan St. after receiving a call on the alleged robbery.

After their arrival, police spoke with the clerk, who told them that a man in a blue flannel jacket, light grey sweatpants, and a pink, flowered mask came into the store and walked behind the counter. The clerk said the man then grabbed her, told her to open the register, and hit her on the back of the head.

The clerk said she opened the register, and the man reached inside and grabbed an amount of cash, though she could not specifically say how much. Before the man left, the clerk said he pressed a button on the change safe and took what change came out.
