NE Tennessee man accused of burning baby with cigarettes served with 2-year-old indictment

ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville man accused of burning his girlfriend’s 14-month-old baby with cigarettes in 2010 was returned to Hawkins County on Friday from a Georgia jail to answer an aggravated child abuse charge.

On Sept. 14, 2010, Rogersville police stopped a vehicle occupied by Joey Mark Waye, his girlfriend and her 14-month-old daughter because the couple were wanted for questioning in connection to some burglaries in Hamblen County.

During that traffic stop, police allegedly observed that the baby had numerous burns.
