SHELBYVILLE — The parents of a 7-year-old boy were arrested on child endangerment charges after a DUI crash Sunday night.

Venus Denise Reed, 32, was driving on Union Street when she was involved in the collision, police said. She allegedly admitted taking Xanax and drinking half a beer and was "having difficulty waking due to her level of intoxication," officer Chris Vest's report said.

The boy and Orman Dee Reed Jr., 48, who admitted consuming "more than a six-pack" of beer at a friend's home and allegedly appeared intoxicated, were passengers, Vest said. Police did not list the boy as injured.

Venus Reed was also charged with DUI and Orman Reed with DUI by allowance. They both posted $2,500 bonds.
