Johnson City police: Man ran from officers, lied about identity

Staff Report • Jan 17, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Police said a city man was charged Thursday with false reporting and running from police.

A Johnson City Police Department news release said officers saw a man get out of a vehicle on North Roan Street and slam the door. The vehicle reportedly continued to follow the man into a parking lot.

The officers responded to check the subjects’ welfare, when the man, later identified as Jordan R. Combs, 24, 137 Horseshoe Circle, ran from the scene. Police said they asked Combs to stop numerous times, but he refused.

The release said police reported stopping him a short time later, where he lied about his identity several times before revealing his real name.

Combs was charged with false reporting and resisting stop, frisk and halt. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was held on $6,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 1:45 p.m. for his arraignment.
