Man wanted in Oklahoma picked up by Johnson City police

A man wanted on several charges in Oklahoma was arrested by police Saturday.

A Johnson City Police Department news release said officers made contact with Christopher Allen Benton, 22, in the area of West Watauga and Wilson avenues. Upon checking Benton’s records, police discovered he was wanted as a fugitive from Oklahoma on charges of robbery, embezzlement and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and arrested him.

Benton is being held at the Washington County Detention Center with a bond hearing set for today at 1:30 p.m. in Sessions Court.
