Danah Davis, 35, no address available, was arrested on charges of theft over $1,000, possession of burglary tools and criminal trespassing. The incident happened at Mr. Transmission, located at 2810 W. Market St. Police responded to the business around 5:40 a.m. after the owner, Timothy Rodifer, had received an email that a surveillance camera was activated by motion.
After receiving the e-mail, Rodifer began watching the video feed on his computer at home. According to a police report, he saw "a white male wearing a dark hoodie inside the fenced-in lot of the business. The suspect was walking around the lot looking in the vehicles."
When officers arrived at the scene, they set up a perimeter around the business and one officer saw a man wearing a dark hoodie run to the front of the building. When officers searched the lot, they located Davis hiding behind a van and arrested him.
Officers found a battery charger sitting out, which they say was an item Davis intended to steal. A bicycle was located behind a nearby residence, and Davis said it was his mode of transportation, according to the report. A five-gallon bucket attached to the bike and a backpack on the ground at the bike contained several burglary tools, police said.
Davis was being held on a $12,000 bond pending his arraignment in Washington County General Sessions Court Monday.
