CHURCH HILL — A Johnson City woman told police she was driving her ex-boyfriend to an aunt’s house in Hawkins County Friday night when he allegedly “jerked” the steering wheel out of her hand attempting to crash the car, telling her they both should die.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday another motorist called police after reportedly observing Patty Tipton’s 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon swerving in and out of its lane westbound on Highway 11-W in Mount Carmel near the Hardee’s restaurant.
Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenny Lunsford Jr. received a BOLO (be on the lookout) report for the green station wagon, and then met the vehicle moments later stopped in the middle of 11-W in Church Hill near the Pizza Plus restaurant.
Initially the male passenger was outside the vehicle. When Lunsford arrived, however, the man — identified as J.B. Miller, 24, 2942 Plymouth Road, Johnson City, ran back to Tipton’s vehicle and got inside.
