Police: Church Hill shooting victim was on foot when he called family for help

CHURCH HILL — Church Hill police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night around 9:15 p.m.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released, but CHPD Chief Mark Johnson said the victim was listed in critical condition at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.

“Last night our department was notified of a gun shot victim who presented at the HVMC emergency room,” Johnson said. “Our preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was on foot on Holliston Mills Road near the 11-W intersection around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by one .45 caliber bullet. The victim called a family member who came to the scene and transported him to the hospital for treatment.”
