Kermit Milton Hinkle III, 32, 1902 Tenn. Highway 91, was charged with assault on an officer. He is scheduled to answer the charge in Sessions Court on Nov. 15.
Sgt. Larry Vaughn reported that he and Deputy Jason Mosier responded to domestic disturbance call at Hinkle’s residence at 11 p.m. When they arrived, Hinkle said he could hear a man yelling and using profanity. Vaughn said when they met Hinkle in his bedroom he appeared to be agitated about a broken window. Vaughn said Hinkle was loud and belligerent toward him.
While attempting to speak with him, Vaughn said Hinkle began to move toward him while swinging his right hand. Vaughn said he ordered Hinkle to back away on two occasions. Vaughn said the third time Hinkle moved toward him “it was in an aggressive manner and he pointed his right arm toward me in what I believed was an effort to push me or to try to push by me.”
Vaughn immediately turned Hinkle toward the back of the room. He said Hinkle continued to be verbally abusive toward his family, Mosier and him.
Vaughn said when he attempted to pat Hinkle down to see if he had a weapon, Hinkle turned around to face him. At that point, Vaughn arrested Hinkle.
While taking Hinkle to jail, Vaughn said he made several threatening remarks toward him and Mosier. Vaughn said Hinkle also told him that he loved and respected the police and knew they had a job to do.
