Staff Reports • Nov 2, 2013 at 9:43 PM

Washington County deputies arrived at a Johnson City residence to find a vehicle had driven into an empty swimming pool.

A Sheriff’s Office news release said Danny Banks, 55, 433 Taylor St., Bristol, and Nathan Miller, 33, 57 Tulip Circle, No. 6, Bristol, were found by deputies standing in the empty pool at 108 Rosewood Circle, next to Miller’s 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Deputies say it ran off the road, through the backyard and came to rest when it landed in the pool. Deputies said drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the area around the pool.

They were able to determine Miller was the driver, and he was charged with third offense driving under the influence as well as possession of schedule II drugs, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license and failure to meet the financial responsibility law. Banks was charged with possession of schedule II drugs and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia violations.

Miller suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Johnson City Medical Center. He was released shortly afterward and brought, with Banks, to the Washington County Detention Center.

Miller has a bond hearing scheduled, and Banks was being held on $2,000 bond. They are both scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court Monday morning.
