JC police report finding crack cocaine in Bristol, Va., man's car

A Bristol, Va., man was charged with having crack cocaine after police pulled him over for following too closely to another vehicle Thursday night.
Johnson City police noticed John Henry Mcalpin Jr. 32, 651 Quarry St., Apt. 45, Bristol, Va., following another car too close on Interstate 26 about 7 p.m. Thursday.
After stopping him, a police K-9 alerted to drugs in the car. Police found 21.4 grams of crack cocaine.
Police said Mcalpin was en route from Asheville, N.C. to Bristol, Va.
He was charged with the manufacture/delivery/or sale of schedule II drugs, driving on a suspended license and following too close, according to a police news release.
Mcalpin was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $11,000 bond.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court on Friday.
