Man charged with vandalizing mother's East Watauga home

A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday on accusations that he caused more than $4,000 worth of damage to his mother's east Johnson City house and resisted police.

After a 911 call about a disturbance just before 1 p.m., police found Makalyn C. Simmons in his mother's house at 1314 E. Watauga Ave. Several items in and around the house had been destroyed. Police estimated the damage at $4,200, according to a news release.

He was charged with felony vandalism and resisting arrest and jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
