Police roundup: Stolen laptop; assault; domestic disturbance

ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a man who is suspected of stealing a laptop computer from the McDonald’s Restaurant on Broad Street shortly after midnight Aug. 12. The man carrying a satchel was seen on two security cameras at the restaurant. Detective Joe Harrah is publicizing the photographs in the hope that someone may recognize the man and come forward. • A Carter County man was arrested on a charge he had cut his roommate with a knife. Randy Lee Robinson, 57, 119 Landfill Road, was arrested at his residence over the weekend on domestic violence charges of aggravated assault and vandalism under $500. On Aug. 13, Deputy Brian Smithpeters was dispatched to Robinson’s residence on a vandalism complaint. While Smithpeters was en route, 911 reported that Robinson had cut a woman and fled into the woods behind his residence. Smithpeters said he was met by Angela Potter, who was bleeding from a cut to her hand. Potter said Robinson was her roommate.
• Both a man and woman were arrested by the Carter County Sheriff’s Department on Friday night following a domestic disturbance at 131 Ray Simerly Road, Hampton. Lisa Simerly Mizzell Rocco told a deputy her husband, Preston Rocco, had beat her and choked her. Preston Rocco denied choking his wife, but said he did bump her with his chest. Due to statements and marks on his wife’s neck, Preston Rocco was arrested on a charge of aggravated domestic violence. A records check indicated were outstanding warrant charging Lisa Rocco with violation of probation and failure to appear.
