Johnson City police arrested a man Sunday in connection with a Cherry Street robbery.

Police said Jay Dennis, 254 Booher Road, Apt. C-4, Bristol, was identified as the man who reportedly approached a man in a Cherry Street parking lot on Sunday morning, struck him in the face with his fist, knocking him unconscious.

Police said Dennis took the man’s cell phone, wallet and its contents, including his bank card and $50 cash.

Witnesses gave police a description of the robber along with information about the vehicle in which he fled. Police stopped the vehicle near the intersection of State Franklin Road and Harris Drive East, and the driver was identified as the robber by witnesses, police said.

Dennis was charged with robbery and was held on $50,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Center.

He is set to appear Monday in Sessions Court.
