2 arrested on pot charges after traffic stop on Tenn. 107

A traffic stop in southern Washington County led sheriff's deputies to arrest two Unicoi County men Saturday on drug and related charges.

Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said Edward Hamby, 21, Unicoi, and Justo Perez, 20, Erwin were pulled over on Tenn. Highway 107 near Bailey Bridge Road. When deputies approached the vehicle, Hamby and Perez admitted to smoking marijuana and indicated marijuana was in the vehicle.

Police dog K-9 Mali alerted on the vehicle, and deputies found a small metal “smoking pipe” and two baggies with marijuana in the vehicle.

Charged with possession of schedule VI drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, Hamby and Perez were jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,000 bond each and arraigned Monday in Sessions Court.
