Three men chased down a man seen burglarizing a vehicle in Johnson City early Sunday morning, resulting in his arrest after police found stolen items in his backpack, Johnson City police said in a news release.
Marcus Wright, 18, 412 W. 9th St., was charged with two counts of auto burglary.
Police were called to the 600 block of Fall Street after a 911 caller told a dispatcher three men were chasing a fourth in the area. Police found that Wright had been subdued by the other men, who reported that they had seen Wright breaking into a stealing from one of their vehicles.
Police tool Wright into custody and found several pieces of property inside a backpack he had been carrying. Police located one other victim. Some property remained unaccounted for, and police believed they were stolen from the Fall Street area.
Wright was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
