Johnson City fight leads to fugitive's arrest

Staff Report • Jul 28, 2013 at 9:13 PM

A West Holston Avenue fight on Sunday led Johnson City police to a man wanted in Louisiana for multiple DUI convictions.

Rusty L. Anderson, 34, 108 W. Holston Ave., was arrested after police went to his block about 2:30 p.m. on a report that two men were fighting in the yard of a residence.

Police found one of the two men as he was walking back to his residence, and after a brief investigation, police determined where the second man was.

A records check indicated that Anderson had an active warrant for a parole violation in Louisiana. His original charges were for multiple DUI convictions, and the local agency in Louisiana confirmed they would extradite, police said.

Charged with being a fugitive from justice, Anderson was jailed without bond in the Washington County Detention Center pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
