A Gray man was arrested Wednesday on a charge that he stole more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Johnson City Walmart last year.

Johnson City police said Nathaniel Broadway, 25, 5727 Kingsport Hwy., Gray, was developed as a suspect after Jonesborough police stopped a vehicle on Aug. 7 and found the stolen items during a consensual search.

The items were believed to have been stolen from the Walmart at 2915 W. Market St., and loss prevention employees identified the property as coming from their store. The items were valued at $1,002.85.

A warrant was issued for Broadway's arrest. Johnson City police found him on Wednesday. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Thursday.
