Kingsport police: Robber found with counterfeit money after fleeing arrest

KINGSPORT — A Kingsport man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police shortly after he committed armed robbery, then being located the next day at a city business with nearly $1,200 in counterfeit bills. Kingsport police say they are still searching for a second suspect in the robbery. A gun was allegedly displayed in that Thursday night incident to steal a man's wallet and cell phone. According to affidavits filed in Kingsport court, Jordan Scott Johnson, 19, was apprehended Friday afternoon at the Dollar General on Lynn Garden Drive. Kingsport police were responding to a report of counterfeit currency when Johnson was found exiting a car in the parking lot.
