Police charged a teenager Thursday with burglarizing two Johnson City skateboard shops this month after stolen items were listed for sale on the Internet.

On July 1, the Angry Penguin Skateboards and BMX, 123 W. Main St., was burglarized, and several bicycles and other items were stolen. More than $1,000 worth of property was taken, police said.

The second burglary occurred Wednesday at Mojo Skate Shop, 729 W. Market St. Police said several items were taken, but some items were dropped by the burglars as they fled after witnesses saw them inside the business.

Some of the stolen property was listed for sale on the Internet, police said.

The 17-year-old boy was developed as a suspect, and he later admitted his involvement in both burglaries, police said.

He was set to appear July 19 in Johnson City Juvenile Court. His charges included two counts of burglary, theft of property over $500 and theft of property under $500.
