Johnson City man accused of threatening man with knife after coming home drunk from bar

Staff Report • Jul 3, 2013 at 3:51 PM

A Lamont Street man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he threatened to stab another man in a drunken argument and had marijuana.

Robert Mincey, 49, 517 Lamont St., was arrested after Johnson City police went to his residence about 6:45 p.m. to investigate the report of the threat and found him with a knife, police said in a news release.

Police said witnesses reported that Mincey was upset after he got separated from the group at a nearby bar. He was "severely under the influence of alcohol" and immediately became belligerent upon his return to the house, initiating a confrontation with the victim, 33-year-old Christopher Wayne Jackson.

Mincey reached in his pocket, unfolded a knife, began to wave it around and made verbal threats, telling Jackson he would cut his throat and stab him, police said in a report.

As Mincey was arrested, police found 1 gram of marijuana in a plastic bag, and Mincey told police he had been drinking and had smoked marijuana earlier the day.

Mincey was charged with aggravated assault and simple possession of a schedule VI drug. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $26,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance this afternoon.
