Four arrested at ETSU after building evacuated

An apartment building at East Tennessee State University was evacuated Saturday night after a number of law enforcement officers were called in to check for explosive materials.
An email from David Collins, Vice President of Finance and Administration, was sent to all faculty, staff and students about the incident Sunday morning. Public safety officers were investigating two apartments at Buc Ridge where drug, drug paraphernalia and other unusual items were discovered, according to the email.
Among the items found were marijuana, clear crystal pellets, propane canisters, assorted powders, vermiculite, an unknown liquid, and a non-active pressure cooker. The items were discovered in two apartments and a student vehicle,according to the email.
The Johnson City Police Department, the Johnson City Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, the state fire marshal, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Unicoi County Sherriff’s Department which provided canine units, were called in to assist.
