Oak Hill Military Decoration Day

On Saturday, the Tri-Cities Military Affairs Council decorated the graves at Oak Hill Cemetery in downtown Johnson City of soldiers who died in World War I and World II. Johnson City Mayor David Tomita and Oak Hill owner Timothy McKinney were also on hand to honor the legacy of the city's founder and first mayor, Henry Johnson. Johnson and his wife, Mary, are buried at Oak Hill, and the city has erected a monument in the cemetery, as well. Numerous U.S. and Confederate soldiers who fought in the Civil War and personnel from the country's other wars also rest at Oak Hill.
