I grew up in Abingdon, Va and married a girl from Johnson City, TN. A few years later we felt called to serve the poor and marginallized in Haiti. We moved to work at an orphanage for 2.5 years and now we are working for a transition home that we started called Emmaus House. The transition home helps Haitian youth finish school and learn life skills to help them succeed in life.
When I feel like a little mini vacation, I like to just get away and watch the sunrise or sunset. The beauty of this country is breathtaking and there is no where else I would rather be (besides sippin' sweet tea in a rocking chair overlooking the Appalachian mountains...of course)!
We have been here for nearly 3.5 years now and will be here for another 4. When we are done with our time in Haiti, there is no doubt in my mind that we will be moving back to TN. It is home. It is beautiful. That is where family is.
But until then, I will just keep taking photos here in Haiti.
