KINGSPORT — A more than $68.4 million Kingsport City Schools budget proposal for 2014-15 is to go before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday at a 4:30 p.m. work session. It will be in a second floor meeting room of City Hall.

The proposed budget, approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at its regular Thursday night meeting, seeks $775,000 in additional money for the general fund and almost as much again for computer purchases in a special technology fund.

To balance the $68,479,500 budget — $2,809,850 more than the current general fund budget — with city revenues would require $775,000 in additional money from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen or a total of $10,976,400.

Debt service from the city is to go down $51,250 to $3,516,700, and a special technology fund appropriation for student computers is to be $750,000.
