Eight win without opposition in Unicoi County

ERWIN — Several Unicoi County races were uncontested in Tuesday’s Republican primary.

All incumbents were seeking re-election to the offices of Circuit Court clerk, trustee, register of deeds, Sessions Court judge and superintendent of roads.

Circuit Court Clerk Darren Shelton received 3,585 votes, according to unofficial totals. Sessions Judge David R. Shults tallied 3,437 votes. Superintendent of Roads Terry Haynes garnered 3,546 votes, and Register of Deeds Debbie Tittle received 3,639 votes. Trustee Paul Berry received 3,794 votes.

Each of Unicoi County’s three districts is also represented a constable, and each of these posts were uncontested in Tuesday’s primary. Howard L. Riddle received 1,076 votes for first district constable, Gary Wayne Edwards received 1,156 votes for second district constable, and Timmy S. Lewis received 1,094 votes for third district constable, according to unofficial totals.
