Two WCSO deputies injured in car crash

Staff Report • Apr 20, 2014 at 8:14 PM

Two sheriff’s deputies are in stable condition after suffering injuries in a single-car crash this weekend.

At around 1 a.m. Sunday, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies Louis Cunningham and Tim Moore were taken to Johnson City Medical Center after their vehicle crashed off Old State Route 34.

As of Sunday evening, Sheriff Ed Graybeal said the two men were listed in stable condition.

Because the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, Graybeal said he was unfamiliar with the specifics behind what may have caused the wreck, other than that the two men were riding in Cunningham’s vehicle while they were off duty.

“They were off duty in their private vehicle, and, I guess, lost control,” Graybeal said. “But I haven’t seen THP’s report yet.”

Inquiries made by Press staff to obtain a copy of the THP accident report were not addressed as of Sunday evening. Graybeal said he expected to have it in his office by today or Tuesday.
