Johnson City police responded to a two-vehicle wreck in the area of West Market and North Boone streets Thursday at 2:20 p.m. that sent one woman to a hospital.
City resident Leslie Schultz said she saw a 2001 Chrysler 300 pull out of the nearby bus station and take a left. The vehicle nearly came into the lane where Schultz was stopped in her vehicle before it swerved back into the left lane and through the red light, she said.
The Chrysler, driven by Tony Frazier, 48, of Chuckey, then struck a Subaru Outback, driven by Morgan Walker, 28, of Johnson City, which was traveling through a green light on Boone Street.
Schultz said Frazier’s car spun around once before landing on the curb in front of the Johnson City Press on West Market Street.
The passenger of the Chrysler, Denise Frazier, 52, also of Chuckey, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police said everyone in both vehicles was wearing seat belts.
Tony Frazier was cited for a red light violation, police said.
Police, fire and EMS responded to the scene and crews were dispatched to clean up broken glass and debris from the crash.
