Update: All power restored on ETSU campus

Staff Report • Dec 5, 2013 at 4:40 PM

As of 3:38 p.m., the Johnson City Power Board reported that all service had been restored to the university's campus.

A power outage stemming from a substation in south Johnson City briefly affected the East Tennessee State University campus.

University spokesman Joe Smith initially said several campus buildings had been affected. He soon reported that power had been restored. The D.P. Culp University Center and Sherrod Library remained without electrical service.

Smith said the Culp Center's offices would remain closed today, and all events scheduled for the center tonight had been canceled or postponed.

The Johnson City Power Board tweeted that a breaker operated in the Mountain Home substation was interrupting power to services near ETSU and Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
