ETSU cancels classes, closes University School for Wednesday anticipating snowfall

All classes at East Tennessee State University have been canceled for Wednesday as officials anticipate snow in the forecast overnight tonight and Wednesday.

The university also announced that University School, a public laboratory school operated by the ETSU Clemmer College of Education, also would be closed for the day. A decision about the status of the university's offices would be made early Wednesday morning.

National Weather Service forecasters continue to say the Tri-Cities area will get up to 3 inches of snow on Wednesday, starting through the night with a mix of rain and snow.

Rain will continue today before midnight and turn to a mix of snow and sleet after 3 a.m. Snow is expected throughout Wednesday morning. Temperatures are expected to hover around freezing.

ETSU classes today will continue on a regular schedule.
