A North Carolina chicken wing restaurant will open its first Tennessee location in Johnson City next year, and could follow with up to seven more in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas, investors said Thursday.
Johnson City development company Mitch Cox Companies announced that the first of up to eight East Coast Wings & Grill restaurants will open in February in the former CiCi’s Pizza location in the Johnson City Marketplace retail center in north Johnson City.
Mitch Cox leased the 5,000-square-foot commercial space to Kingsley Investment Group LLC, a restaurant management company formed in February. East Coast Wings & Grill will be the company’s flagship property.
A release emailed by the company said a second East Coast Wings & Grill location will open in Kingsport about a month after the first in Johnson City. Kingsley hopes to open an additional location each subsequent quarter of next year in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, including in Elizabethton, Greeneville, Bristol and Abingdon and Marion, Va.
The restaurant chain is based in Winston-Salem, N.C., was founded in 1995, and has 28 locations, mostly in its home state.
