• State lawmakers pondering reversal of teaching policy. State legislators are poised to take action to reverse a state Board of Education policy that they say goes too far and could cost Tennessee hundreds of dedicated educators.
• 'Toppers escape Cyclones, stop Thomas at 1 on final play. Elizabethton’s Ethan Thomas rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns Friday night at Science Hill, but came up about a yard and a half short of what would’ve been a stunning Cyclones victory.

Friday morning’s pep rally at David Crockett High School garnered a lot of school spirit, as various faculty members dressed up as DCHS cheerleaders and celebrity favorites from the TV show “Duck Dynasty” to help the students cheer on the football team for its game against Unicoi County that night.
