The Rev. and Mrs. Tydings
The Rev. and Mrs. David Tydings, 1905 Knob Creek Road, Unit 7, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, May 24, 2012.
The couple were married on May 24, 1952, at Ninth & O Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky., by pastor Dr. Roy C. McClung.
The Rev. Tydings pastored churches in Kentucky and the Holston Baptist Association. He retired from Grainger Baptist Association, Rutledge, as director of missions, and was later employed for five years with Amedysis, Elizabethton, as hospice chaplain. He also has served churches in the area as interim and supply pastor.
Mrs. Tydings is the former Sarah Gash. She has served as secretary to the president of Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, and was a receptionist in the office of the Holston Baptist Association. She retired from Grainger Baptist Association as an administrative assistant.
The couple have one child, Brenda Peterson and husband Steve, Kingsport; and one grandchild, Breanna Peterson.

He is a grandson of Walter and Ann Maupin of Gray; and Geneva Lambert of Bloomingdale, and the late Calvin Lambert.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless floor-length Roman A-line ball gown of ivory tulle featuring an empire waist, lace appliqués and a skirt that extended into a chapel-length train.
Matron of honor was Jordan Childers.
Bridesmaids were Tessa Smith, Paige Childers, Mackenzie Buttrey and Corintha Lambe.
Flower girl was Mallory Muse. Ring bearer was Colin Lambert.
Chris Lambert, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Kyle Norris, cousin of the bride; Marc Buttrey; Corey Lamson; and Seth Righi.
Usher was Gary Owen, uncle of the bride.
Following a reception at The Charles, the couple took a wedding trip to Sandals La Toc, St. Lucia.
