Jim and Carolyn Rogers will celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011.
The couple were married on Oct. 13, 1958, in Gray by the Rev. Mack Hilton.
Mr. Rogers retired from Holston Defense.
Mrs. Rogers is the former Carolyn Waddell. She is a homemaker.
The couple have three children, Patricia Segrest, Debbie Rogers and Jimmy Rogers; and one grandchild, Cody Segrest.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Science Hill High School; and is a 2002 graduate of University of South Carolina, where she received a bachelor’s degree in media art and film production.
She is employed by Southern Appalachian International Film Festival as executive director. She is also employed by Gourmet & Co.
She is a granddaughter of Dr. Winifred B. Clark, Johnson City; the late Dr. James Wesley Clark; Helen Fry, Knoxville; and the late George W. Fry.
Her fiancé is a 2000 graduate of Unicoi County High School; a 2006 graduate of University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he received a bachelor’s degree in German and English; and a 2011 graduate of East Tennessee State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
He is employed by Siemens as a research and development software engineer.
He is a grandson of David and Sue Grubbs, Murfreesboro; Billie Ruth Sanders, Dayton, Ohio; and the late Jessie Arnold McCormick.
The couple plan a private wedding for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Banner Elk Winery, Banner Elk, N.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Miller, Jonesborough, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at New Hope Church of the Brethren, Jonesborough.
The couple were married on Oct. 14, 1961, at New Hope Church of the Brethren, Jonesborough, by Frank Isenberg.
Mr. Miller was employed for several years at Leon-Ferenbach, and retired from EZ Painter. He is now employed part-time by Washington County Solid Waste.
Mrs. Miller is the former Barbara McCracken. She was previously employed by Watauga Apparel, and has served 23 years with Washington County Food Service.
The couple have two children, Joey Miller and wife Debbie, Johnson City, and Marcia Hall and husband Randy, Limestone; and four grandchildren.
The celebration is open to family and friends.
