Mr. and Mrs. Schuler
Jerry and Judith Schuler, 19501 Pairgin Road, Bristol, Va., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at a reception from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Suburban Christian Church.
The couple were married on Jan. 28, 1962, at El Centro Baptist Church, El Centro, Calif., by Minister Charles W. Christian, while Mr. Schuler was serving in the U.S. Navy in Marimara, Calif.
Mr. Schuler retired from Raytheon.
Mrs. Schuler is the former Judith Nichols. She is a homemaker.
The couple have three children, Christine Salyer of Blountville, Brenda Carter of Ronda, N.C., and Eric Schuler of Bristol, Va.; and five grandchildren.
The celebration is open to family and friends.
The couple request that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to Suburban Christian Church’s building fund.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Philip and Dorothy Smith, Bluff City, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, with a weekend with family in Charleston, S.C., followed by a cruise to the Bahamas.
The couple were married on Jan. 6, 1962, at Mayfair Lutheran Church, Chicago.
Mr. Smith retired from Exxon Corp.
Mrs. Smith retired as church secretary for various congregations.
The couple have three children, Glenn Smith and wife Theresa of Anchorage, Alaska, Donna McCalman and husband Mark of Johnson City, and Kendra Martin and husband Jerry of Fort Mill, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Emily Smith, Joseph Bottini, Graham McCalman, Alayna Martin, Marinda Martin and Caramia Martin.
Jamie Lynn Weaver and Richard Douglas Lowe were married Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Valley United Methodist Church, Huntsville, Ala.
The Rev. Louis Imsande officiated the 5:30 p.m. exchange of vows.
The bride is a daughter of James and Cindy Weaver, Huntsville.
She is a granddaughter of the late David and Leslie Weaver; the late Irvin Ryker; and Phyllis Ryker, Memphis, Tenn.
The groom is a son of Ken and Beth Lowe, Johnson City.
He is a grandson of the late Roby and Lela Lowe; the late Richard Fenn; the late Barbara Fenn Parker; and C.E. Parker, Johnson City.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
Matron of honor was Sara Hammontree.
Bridesmaids were Shana Eaton, Alice Jong, Jessica Kinmonth, Lauren Mosley and Kristen Osborne.
Ken Lowe, father of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Halkowitz, Patrick Ladd, Josh Lee, Andy Lowe and Jason Weaver.
Ushers were Will Little and Jordan Mott.
Following a reception at the Huntsville Art Museum, the couple took a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic.
Mr. and Mrs. Percell
Marvin and Doris Marie Percell, 894 Conklin Road, Telford, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Friday, Jan. 27.
The couple were married on Jan. 27, 1972, in Erwin by the Rev. Sherman Head.
Mr. Percell was employed by Burlington Industries for 30 years and Washington County Schools for six years.
Mrs. Percell is the former Doris Marie Curtis.
She was employed by Burlington Industries for 20 years and is now employed by Washington County Schools.
The couple have two children, Misty Nienast and husband Patrick of Jonesborough, and Anthony Percell and wife Tonya of Chuckey; and four grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Joshua and Kendra.
Mr. and Mrs. John Evans Seward Jr., Elizabethton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Julia Katherine Seward, to Gideon Patrick O’Daniel, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Patrick O’Daniel, Raleigh, N.C.
The bride-elect is a 2005 honors graduate of Science Hill High School; a 2009 summa cum laude graduate of Grove City College where she received a bachelor’s degree in English and was ranked No. 38 in NCAA Division III cross-country running; and a 2012 graduate of Bob Jones University where she received a master’s degree in teaching.
She is employed by Sylvan Learning Center in Greenville, S.C..
She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Earl Farris, Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. Matilda Seward, Johnson City, and the late John Seward.
Her fiancé is a graduate of Genessee Christian School, Michigan; a graduate of West Coast Baptist College where he received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education; and a 2011 graduate of Bob Jones University where he received a master’s degree in teaching.
He taught sixth grade at Harvest Christian Academy in Guam for three years, and is employed at Wilmington Christian Academy, Wilmington, N.C., as a sixth-grade teacher.
He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Halleck, California; and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Patrick O’Daniel.
The couple plan an open-church wedding for 1 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Grace Bible Church, Moore, S.C.
