Mr. and Mrs. Manning
Ron and Bonnie Manning, 1151 Cliffview Circle, Gray, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at a celebration and renewal of vows at Boones Creek Christian Church.
The couple were married on Nov. 24, 1961, in Baltimore, Md., by Dick Morris.
Mr. Manning retired from Western Electric/AT&T after 32 years of service.
Mrs. Manning is the former Bonnie Ivarson. She is the former owner of the copy shop, Qualitee Shoppe, in Lexington Park, Md.
The couple have three children, Debora Lynch of Jonesborough, James Manning of Gray, and Trudi Cook of Mechanicsville, Md.; two grandchildren, Martin Everle and Kyle Kemp, both of Mechanicsville, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, Martin, Matthew and Myiah Everle.
Megan Lorraine Masch and Ward Phillip “Cody” Wilson, were married Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at The Box Place on Coffee Ridge, Erwin.
David Christian, minister, officiated the 1 p.m. exchange of vows.
Music was provided by Bobby Whitson, instrumentalist.
The bride is a daughter of William and Brenda Masch, Virginia Beach, Va.
She is the granddaughter of Arthur and Virginia Masch, Saranac, Mich., Marie White, Iona, Mich., and the late Pirl White.
The groom is the son of Phillip and Letha Wilson, Erwin.
He is the grandson of JoAnn Wilson, Erwin, and the late Ward G. Wilson, and Judy Sparks and the late Jim Sparks.
Given in marriage and escorted by her parents, the bride wore a floor-length, sleeveless dress featuring a V-neckline and scalloped hemline and a full lace overlay, which was originally purchased in 1976 and worn by her mother.
Maid of honor was Stacy Masch.
Bridesmaid was Jennifer Gee.
Flower girls were Loyla and Lori Gee.
Ring bearer was Dawson Silvers.
Phillip Wilson served as best man.
Groomsman was Chris Hemphill.
The couple took a wedding trip to the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Garland
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin B. Garland, 1608 Hickory Court, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family after the first of the year.
The couple were married on Dec. 29, 1951, by the Rev. W.L. Gilton.
Mr. Garland is professor emeritus of East Tennessee State University. He retired from the Department of Health Education after 25 years of service.
Mrs. Garland is the former Kathleen Davis. She retired from the Johnson City School System after 25 years as a teacher in the elementary grades.
The couple have one child, Donna Garland Robbins and husband Stephen of Limestone.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones
Casey Leon and Patricia Mae Jones celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at a dinner and dessert event hosted by their children.
The couple were married on Dec. 23, 1961, in Johnson City.
Mr. Jones retired from Ryder System Inc.
Mrs. Jones is the former Patricia Saults. She retired from Levi Strauss.
The couple have three children, Cathy Griffith and husband Ed, Harold Jones and William Jones.
Christina Dawn Butler and James Robert Hale were married Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Rose Hill Wedding Chapel.
Pastor Jerry Musick officiated the 5 p.m. exchange of vows.
The bride is a daughter of Bill and Carole Butler, Gray.
She is a granddaughter of the late John and Delia Butler; and the late Clarence and Rose Tribble.
The groom is a son of Karen Hale, Jonesborough; and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hale, Johnson City.
He is a grandson of June B. Hubs, Knoxville; the late James A. Hubs; Lola B. Hale, Johnson City; and the late Charles R. Hale.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless Maggie Sottero gown of satin featuring a ruched waist, corset back and a pick-up skirt with crystal beading and lace inset that extended into a cathedral-length train.
Matron of honor was Jamie Swift.
Bridesmaids were Lorrie Hale and Sara Tribble.
Flower girl was Emily Swift.
Ring bearer was Ethan Swift.
Darrell Hale, father of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsman was Chuck Hale.
Ushers were Brad Pollock and Jordan Tribble.
Following a reception at the Holiday Inn, the couple took a wedding trip to Saint James Resort, Jamaica.
