Jose A. and Carmen Zepeda, 137 Royal Oaks Drive, Jonesborough, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at a dinner in Johnson City hosted by their children.
The couple were married on Dec. 23, 1963, at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Hattiesburg, Miss.
Mr. Zepeda was employed by the Perry County School System at Beaumont High School, Beaumont, Miss., as a Spanish teacher. He is retired from First Hispanic Baptist Church, Memphis, where he was minister for 20 years, and he is a retired international elevator sales coordinator from Dover-Thyssen Krupp Elevator in Olive Branch, Miss., where he worked for 15 years.
Mrs. Zepeda was a teacher in El Salvador, and retired from the Memphis (Tenn.) City School System as a teacher.
The couple are active members of Boone Trail Baptist Church, Johnson City.
The couple have four children, Lorena Z. Watson of Olive Branch, Miss.; Jaime Zepeda and wife Lisa of Memphis; Fernando Zepeda and wife Ferrisa of Johnson City; and Lissette Z. Tant of Nashville. They have five grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Caleb, Tyler and Van; and one great-granddaughter, LeAnna.
