Gary and Brenda Gentry, Johnson City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel, to Andrew Lauber, son of Paul and Lynn Lauber, Collinsville, Ill.
The bride-elect is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in social work; and is a student at University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in social work.
She is a granddaughter of the late James and Myrtle Jackson; and the late Verna Lee Gentry.
Her fiancé is a graduate of Valparaiso University, Indiana, where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and philosophy; and a graduate of University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he received a master’s degree in philosophy. He is employed by Bridge Refugee Services, Knoxville; and Lee University, Cleveland, where he teaches philosophy.
He is a grandson of Shirley Knippenberg, Glen Carbon Ill., and the late Arnold Knippenberg; and the late Henry and Dorothy Lauber.
The couple plan an open-church wedding for 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct.12, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Knoxville.
