George and Helen Hardeman, Guatemala City, Guatemala, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Ruth, to Grant David Taylor, son of David and Debbie Taylor, Johnson City.
The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Christian Academy of Guatemala; a 2002 graduate of Anderson College, Anderson, S.C., where she received a bachelor’s degree; and a 2010 graduate of Southeastern Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C., where she received a master’s degree. She was a member of the International Mission Board serving Spain and Guatemala from 2003-2008.
She is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Broughton Dalton, the late Ann Hardeman and George Hardeman of Georgia.
Her fiancé is a 2000 graduate of Science Hill High School, Johnson City; a 2004 graduate of Union University, Jackson; and a 2008 graduate of Besson Divinity School, Birmingham, Ala., where he received a master of divinity degree. He is a student at Southeastern Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C., where he is pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies.
He is a grandson of the late Wilbur Taylor; Freda Taylor Rogers, Jackson; the late Harry McDougald; and Elizabeth “Lib” McDougald, Johnson City.
The couple plan a private wedding for Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at 7 p.m. at The Grove, Maysville, Ga.
